Onboarding
Onboarding is a crucial process that introduces new employees to Barrett and helps them become productive members of the college. The onboarding process at Barrett aims to provide a smooth transition for new hires and equip them with the necessary information, resources, and support to succeed in their roles. Here is an overview of the onboarding process at Barrett:
- New ASU employees will participate in the New Employee Orientation. Enrollment is done by Business Operations in coordination with the employee’s supervisor.
- Supervisors are provided with a checklist that outlines their responsibilities in the onboarding process.
- Introduction to Department and Team: New employees are introduced to the different departments within the organization and given an overview of functions for each department. In depth meetings will be scheduled with departments employees will work with and collaborate with more closely.
- Job-Specific & Mandatory Training: Mandatory training will automatically be assigned through Career Edge, but job-specific training is set by the supervisor. Mandatory training includes:
- Arizona public service orientation
- Fire Safety and Prevention
- Preventing Harassment and Discrimination
- Title IX Duty to Report
- Inclusive Communities
- Ongoing Support: Throughout the onboarding period, new employees receive ongoing support from their supervisors, mentors, and HR representatives. They are encouraged to ask questions, seek guidance, and provide feedback. Regular check-ins and performance evaluations may be conducted to ensure that new hires are adjusting well and have the necessary support to succeed.
