Workplace and community safety

Workplace and community safety is a critical aspect of any organization, including Barrett. It involves implementing measures and protocols to ensure the well-being and security of individuals within the workplace and the surrounding community.

In collaboration with various departments at ASU, Barrett has established processes and procedures within the following areas to ensure workplace and community safety:

  • Emergency Response: Barrett works closely with ASU's emergency management team to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans. These plans outline the steps to be taken in various emergency scenarios, such as natural disasters, medical emergencies, or security incidents. Regular drills and training sessions are conducted to ensure that faculty, staff, and students are prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Safety Training: Barrett provides safety training programs to educate its members on essential safety practices and procedures. These programs cover a range of topics, including fire safety and workplace ergonomics. By equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills, Barrett promotes a culture of safety and preparedness.
  • Security Measures: Barrett collaborates with various ASU departments to implement security measures on its premises. By maintaining a secure environment, Barrett ensures the safety and well-being of its community members.
  • Environmental Health and Safety: Barrett adheres to ASU's environmental health and safety guidelines to promote a healthy and sustainable environment. This includes proper waste management and regular inspections of facilities to identify and address any potential safety hazards.
  • Incident Reporting: Barrett has established a system for reporting and investigating safety incidents and concerns. This allows individuals to report any safety issues they encounter and ensures that prompt action is taken to address them. Incident reports are thoroughly investigated, and corrective measures are implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.

By developing processes within these areas and partnering with ASU departments, Barrett demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for its members and the surrounding community. These processes enable prompt response, effective communication, and proactive measures to prevent and mitigate potential safety risks.
