Change in Downtown Staffing

Hello All,

On behalf of the Barrett Downtown team, I am sad to inform you that Andrea Hernandez has resigned from her role as Program Coordinator within our Student Engagement team. Throughout her time with us, Andrea brought an incredible commitment, spirit, and compassionate energy that she poured into her work with our students every single day. She loved the connections she made here and is hopeful to remain in contact with you all, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. While this was a difficult decision, Andrea needed to step away from her role earlier than she intended to take care of family and personal matters.

Please continue directing any Downtown Student Engagement questions to me or Natalia Stifano and share any Downtown Student Organization items with me. I know this news may come as a surprise, though I am confident that our team will maintain the impactful student engagement that we have started this semester. We know that Andrea will be missed and we have enjoyed the time she has spent with our Barrett family.

Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great rest of your day!

Shea Alevy, M.Ed.

Director of Staff Operations

Discussing: Your Brain at Work by Dr. David Rock

About the book
Your Brain at Work helps you overcome the daily challenges that take away your brain power, like constant email and interruption madness, high levels of stress, lack of control and high expectations, by showing you what goes on inside your head and giving you new approaches to control it better.

Review on Good Reads:
"I am currently rereading this (and taking notes), but to be honest, this is probably one of the most important books I have ever read. It explains SO much of how the brain works and interacts with the world and how it is really bad at a great number of things. Thankfully though it also tells you how to trick your brain into working how you want it to. Truly fantastic."

"Excellent book that should be required reading for people that work and have a brain, lol. It doesn't read like a self help book, very entertaining and you'll learn a thing or two as well. Highly recommended."

The book is available:

  • At ASU Library
  • On Amazon
  • On Thriftbooks (used books)

Pick up your book and register now! We will have a summary of the book available if you don’t have a chance to read/finish it so please join us!
